Fr Jude “Judo” McKenna honoured by the Japaneese Government

Our own Fr. Jude McKenna, the inspiration and guiding light behind our Sables Nua Judo Club was honoured by the Japanese Government for his service to Judo and to the people of Zambia generally.

At a most impressive ceremony in the Japanese Ambassador’s Residence in Dublin Fr. Jude was conferred with the Award of the Rising Sun With Gold and Silver Rays, one of the most prestigious awards the Japanese Government and people can bestow. The award was presented by Her Excellency Ambassador Mari Miyoshi.

There to witness this great occasion were Jude’s family, friends and members of the Judo community from Ireland, Japan and Zambia.

A most well-deserved honour.
