Pentecost Novena to the Holy Spirit – Day 8

Day 8 of the Pentecost Novena;

Once again we meditate upon the breath as an encounter with the Holy Spirit who is the breath, the life (Ruah) of God, the One who gives life to and sustains all that is.

Read the prayer below slowly and gently and during the day often return to the awareness of your breath as an ongoing ever present reminder of the abiding love of God.
Veni Sancte Spiritus!

Breathe on me, breath of God,
Fill me with the life anew,
That I may love the things you love,
And do what you would do.
Breathe on me, breath of God,
Until my heart is pure,
Until with you I have one will,
To live and to endure.
Breathe on me, breath of God,
My soul with grace refine,
Until this earthly part of me
Glows with your fire divine.
Breathe on me, breath of God,
So I shall never die,
But live with you the perfect life
In your eternity.

We pray:

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. And You shall renew the face of the earth.

Our Lady of the Cenacle, pray for us that we may receive a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit +
